This is an interesting topic with a couple of different philosophies.
I think you need to both create your own content and syndicate it out. Potentially do a mix of partial syndication of the highlights and full content syndication. Aiming to syndicate out just the summaries of really high value items.
Then also aggregate valuable content from others - no-one has a monopoly on the best ideas, so by bringing other content in you show you've covered different views. And will also have much deeper content.
