Ardath,

I find that I print out all kinds of things as it is hard too read stuff online. And I am finding I prefer the e-book format. It's easier to read and as you say, it's formatted differently -- and with its more casual style, the writing is usually more reader-friendly, too.

Ardath, loved your post! Your suggestion about placing the white paper online and tracking it is excellent! I suppose you could also split the document up and require registration for reading pt. 2.

Great post.
I think people cling to the white paper layout because they're just stuck in the paper mindset.

Paper costs money. PDF pages don't.
We sometimes find it hard to convince a client that a 30-page PDF with one idea per page is better than a 4-page paper that's dense with copy and must be printed out.

Great advice. With so much content out there, we are a generation of scanners. Why not design information that takes advantage of rather than fights against this trend?
