I like this suggestion but as I'm sure you know, most business web sites are entirely static. Content does get added as new products are released or updated, but the basic story remains the same. Can you give some examples of how to keep a product or business story fresh and dynamic.

One thing I thought of, inspired by your recent post about signature lines, http://tinyurl.com/as8br8, would be to have content that changes each time the page is refreshed; for example, brief statements, like the signature lines, that highlight different aspects of the products. But I'm wondering what you have in mind.

The sad fact that most b2b websites are mostly static means marketers need to think creatively. There are many solutions available that enable marketers to create microsites similar in look and feel to the corporate website. SAAS solutions with toolsets for non-technical users are now affordable and can be up and running quickly. An added bonus for some is the inclusion of lead gen and nurturing tools.

The microsites can be used to update and tell evolving stories related to problem-to-solution scenarios and specific industries - depending on how your go-to-market strategy is set up.

The trick is to revamp your corporate site to tell the overarching story so it meshes with the finely-tuned experience a visitor has on a microsite, should they click through to the corporate site or arrive on the microsite from the corporate site.

Changing content every time the page is refreshed can be a bit much, especially if a visitor backs up to see something again that is now gone.

I've written about microsites in previous posts - in fact I wrote this in Dec 2007 and it's still relevant today.

Google prefers sites that update their content continuously.
There is no way around.

Thus your company website needs to change regularly. Not the entire website but by adding a page, a few paragraphs, images.

The only constant in life is change. Why should a company website be a "museum of content"?
